Types of Elements

Metals: Found on the  left side of the PT
    Properties:
1.  malleable (can be hammered into sheets)
2.  ductile (can be drawn into wires)
3. shiny (have luster)
4. good conductors of heat and electricity
5. high melting and boiling points

Nonmetals: Found on the  right side of the PT
Properties:
   1. dull (lack luster)
    2. brittle (can break easily)
    3. poor conductors of heat and electricity
    4. low melting and boiling points

Metalloids: Found on the “staircase” of the periodic table
Properties:    behave as both metals and nonmetals
There are two exceptions:  Al & Po are metals.
